My name is Emma Elsmo, creator of Graceful Edge.

graceful edge dance is a performance and choreographic venture dedicated to the exploration of dance history, music-as-driver-centered movement, and the freedom that comes from improvisational practices. Our works are centered around exploring feelings of nostalgia, love, torment, and beauty through feminine power.

The creative half is filled with immense curiosity and a passion for play. This is the side of me that craves chaotic energy. It drives my ability to see and hear the smallest of details as inspiration for art and fosters my fascination with intriguing textures and vibrant colors. This side of me loves the messy, unpredictable nature of life.

The analytical half drives my perfectionist tendencies and calculated decision-making. It is the side that craves intense stability and finds satisfaction in structure. It’s stoked by my love of planners, calendars, bright pens, and color coordination. This is the side of me fueled by competition that continues to push me each and every day.

At times these halves may not seem complimentary, but they keep me balanced both artistically and operationally. As a dancing artist, I strive to create work that reflects my quirky yet articulate nature and is enhanced by music-as-driver choreographic tendencies. Both sides ignite a fierce dedication to my art that allows me to fall in love with my life as a dancer and choreographer, daily.

I am an artist with intense duality.

Two distinct halves that make up one, complex whole.
